It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Julia Helen Thistle, 81, of New Waterford on April 24, 2012, at home.
Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late John Robert and Siscely (Penny) Antle.
Julia worked at Woolco for 13 years until her retirement. She was a member of the Army, Navy, Airforce Ladies Auxiliary, in which she received her 20-year pin, and the New Waterford Pensioners’ Club. Julia loved her flower garden and getting together with her friends, Louise and Sadie.
Surviving are her daughter, Fern (Jim) McPhee; sons, Gary Thistle and Wayne Thistle, all of New Waterford; grandchildren, Heather, Jamie, Julia and Victoria; great-granddaughter, Lilia Catherine Belle LeBlanc.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers Henry, Leonard and Clarence and one sister, Belle.
As per Julia’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A private graveside service will be held in All Saints Anglican Cemetery with Rev. Judi Phillips officiating.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
