JONES, ERIC JAMES - It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Eric James Jones on Friday, May 4, 2012 at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Fredericton, NB on March 19, 1945, he was the son of the late Walter and Beatrice (MacKinnon) Jones. Eric is survived by his wife Lauvinia (Blizzard) Jones, two sons, Peter of Fredericton, NB, Patrick (Shelley) of Vimy, AB, two special granddaughters Amanda of Edmonton, AB, Kayla of Melbourne, Australia, mother-in-law Winnie Blizzard, brother Wayne (Joyce) of Tay Creek, NB, nephews Randy and Kevin of Nova Scotia, his favorite niece Cindy (Lonnie) Forbes, great nephews and great nieces Ryan (Amanda), Dawn, Mark and Katelyn of Caverhill, NB, and several aunts and cousins. Eric worked at the University of New Brunswick Physical Plant for 38 years, retiring in 2000 as Grounds Foreman. He loved the outdoors, hunting, 4-wheeling and working in his gardens. As well, he enjoyed Tuesday mornings at St. Margaret’s Anglican Church playing 45’s. He will be missed by his many card friends. Eric was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Beatrice Jones and sister Lois Nealis.
Visitation will take place at St. Margaret’s Anglican Church, 775 Forest Hill Road, Fredericton, NB on Monday, May 7, 2012 from 4 to 9 PM. Funeral service will be from St. Margaret’s Anglican Church on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 2 PM with Canon Jon Lownds officiating. Followed by a Reception. Interment will take place in the Forest Hill Cemetery. If you so desire memorial donations to St. Margaret’s Anglican Church Building Fund or the Chalmers Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
