Date de décès : 6 mai 2012

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we, the family, announce the passing of Mabel Parsons. Mom passed away on Sunday, May 6th, 2012 at St. Clare’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Mom’s calling was to help people in need with the passion and care that could only be delivered by a very special person. She touched everyone in the community and she will be profoundly missed by all. Mom was born in the small fishing village of Joe Batt’s Arm, Fogo Island, Nfld. on April 10th, 1929. Following the death of her eldest sister Mary, the family moved to St. John’s where Mom attended Littledale Catholic Girls School and graduated in 1952 as a nurse from St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital. In 1954 she married Kevin Parsons and moved to Flatrock, where she was the Public Health nurse for the area. For over 40 years she loved her calling as a nurse from vaccinations at school to helping people dealing with life challenges. Mom is predeceased by her adored parents Aneas and Catherine Penton, sisters Mary Bridget Penton, Grace Mahoney (Fred), Bun Walsh (Mike) and her big brother Pierce. Mom leaves behind her loving husband Kevin Parsons of 58 years. Loving mother to Kathleen (Karl), Kevin Jr. (Veronica), Chris (Kathleen), Carl (Donnie) and Robert (Catherine). Cherished grandmother to Joanne, Jennifer, Jimmy, Dale, Leon, Justin, Michael, Nicole, David, Maggie and Kealan, great-grandchildren: Hannah, Jaxson, Kiana and Rylan. Also her devoted sister Josephine Maher (Charles) of Quincy, Mass. and sisters-in-law: Catherine and Kay Whitty. Special Mention to Patsy Parsons and Jimmy Everson, two very special people in her life, whom she considered a part of her family. She also leaves behind her very special friends at Spread Eagle where they spent many summers and many great memories. The family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff of St. Clare’s Hospital that cared for Mabel with love and compassion during the past several months. Also a very special thank you to Sister Marion Manning and Dr. Allison Drover who provided comfort to Mom during this trying time. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, TORBAY. Visitation on Tuesday from 4 p.m. - 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 12 noon - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass to take place on Thursday, May 10th at 10 a.m. from St. Michael’s Church, Flatrock, with cremation to follow.
