Gwendoline Violet Robbins - 94, of Coldbrook and Tiverton. It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our mother, Gwendoline Robbins who passed away Friday, May 11, 2012 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in 1917 in Kentville, the oldest daughter of Walter and Florence (Rashleigh) Wood, she graduated KCA High School with honours and worked for Stedmans store in Kentville. She later attended Mack Business College and then worked for the Unemployment Agency after the Second World War, helping with Polish and German women refugees, travelling with them from Montreal to Nova Scotia by train. She was member of St. James Anglican Church, Kentville and helped her father with Boy Scouts when needed. In 1952 she married Keith Outhouse and moved to Tiverton, Digby County and quickly became involved in the Tiverton Baptist Church teaching Sunday school and served as treasurer of the Sunshine Bible Class. She worked for Small Bros. Ltd. as bookkeeper until she retired in 1981 when she married Bernard Robbins after being widowed for ten years. She is survived by daughters, Florence Outhouse, New Minas and Mildred (Rick) Small, Coldbrook; three grandchildren, Stephanie Small, New Minas; Matthew (Christina) Small, Riverview, New Brunswick and Adam Small, Coldbrook; sister, Frances Wood, New Minas; sisters-in-¬law, Gloria Wood, Kentville and Doris Wood, Moncton; nieces, Linda (Orren) Carey and Christine Rafuse; nephews, David (Paula) Wood, Stephen (Judy) Wood, Richard (Monique) Wood, Timothy (Judy) Wood; great nieces, Kathy (Dwayne) Pemberton and Amber Carey; great nephew, Aaron Carey, as well as many other great nieces and nephews; three step children, George (Patricia) Robbins, Halifax; Lindsay (Gail) Robbins, Dartmouth and June (Hilton) Zutz, Parksville, British Columbia; three great grandchildren, Summer, Jacklen and Carys Small; four step grandchildren, Mark (Tracy) Robbins, Shannon Robbins (Chris Davis), Brenda (Ross) Gustavson and Brian (Kimberly) Zutz; two step great grandchildren, Andrew and William Robbins. She was predeceased by husbands, Keith Outhouse and Bernard Robbins; brothers, Stan and Richard Wood and infant great granddaughter, Emily Small. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2012 in the White Family Funeral Home Kentville, Reverend Thelma McLeod officiating. A graveside committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Tiverton, Reverend Rick Small officiating. A reception will follow in the Tiverton Baptist Church. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Tiverton Baptist Church, St. James Anglican Church, Kentville or to a charity of one's choice.
