Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre after a brief illness, Effie Mercer Granter nee Gaulton. December 28, 1919- May 12, 2012, aged 92 years. Predeceased by infant daughter Carol Gertrude 1945, first husband of 25 years Leander Mercer and second husband of 27 years Earnest Grantor, one brother Wilson Gaulton and one sister Gertie Pynn. Left to celebrate her wonderful life are daughters: Renee (Rev. Ken) Penney, Dr. Jean Mercer (Dr. Stan Briggs), son: Thomas (Lynne) Mercer and stepson Rev. Duncan (Pam) Granter. Left with cherished memories are grandchildren: Heather (Sean) Ryan, David (Annaka) Penney, Major Jonathan (Patricia) Penney and Matthew Mercer, Wendi (Rob) McKeagney, Viki (Marcel) White, and Nancy (Andrew) Hill. Also left with loving memories are her many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews — to whom she was so close and Dr. Maureen Dunne, a very special friend among a group of many special friends who treated her so well and Effie loved them all. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Rd. on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will take place at St. Mark the Evangelist Church, Logy Bay Rd on Thursday May 17, 2012 at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery on Forest Rd.
