WILTON (SMITH), Eileen Urquhart - March 10th, 1938 - May 15th, 2012. Born in North Sydney, Cape Breton, Eileen, also affectionately known as Babe, was the eldest daughter of the late H. Eileen (Urquhart) and D. Brenton Smith. Surviving are sister, Beverley Ann MacLellan, her children, Jennifer MacLellan (Stephen Ford) and Matthew MacLellan (Dawn), and her grandchildren Lavinia, Asa, and Edie, Etta and Bobby; sister, Rena May Kossatz (Perry), her children, Rebecca and Charles MacPhee, and Rebecca’s children, Russia and Essen; sister, Susan Michele Smith (Nicola Nixon). Eileen was predeceased by sister, Linda Louise (Lou) and her son, Essen Robertson; surviving are Essen’s sons, Cuchulainn and Kai. After attending schools in Cape Breton and Truro, Eileen graduated from the Provincial Normal College and attended The Presbyterian Missionary and Deaconess Training School. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts from York University, a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto, and a Masters of Education in Educational Administration from Brock University. She held Specialist papers in Reading and Special Education. Upon her retirement in 1996, Eileen returned to Truro to reside. She attended St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Lower Truro. She was a member of the Colchester East Hants Branch of the Retired Teachers’ Organization, The Hope Chest breast cancer support group, the Truro and Area Newcomer Group Alumnae, and was an Associate Member of the Air Force Club. Eileen enjoyed bowling and playing Scrabble. She was passionate in her love for cats. Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 17, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Mattatall - Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 18th at 1 p.m. in St. James Presbyterian Church, 725 Prince Street, Truro, Mrs. Jacqueline Ross officiating. Reception will follow in the church basement. Interment in Economy Cemetery, Colchester County, Nova Scotia. Family flowers only, by request. It was Eileen’s wish that, in her memory, friends might provide care and support for a needy animal.
