Janet Campbell Gunn, died May 17, 2012.
Janet was born Dec. 31, 1918, in St. Stephen, N.B., daughter of Holmes Maxwell and Bessie (MacKenzie). She began her career as a teacher, until she married Rev. Eldon Gunn, Sept. 1, 1948. She soon became very active as a “Minister’s Wife” and she continued the role of hosting, visiting and bringing “Cheer” for the rest of her life. After Eldon’s death, March 26, 1997, she remained in Amherst and for some time shared an apartment with her long time friend, Molly Allen. Last year she moved to Truro, to receive more needed care and to be closer to family.
She was devoted to her family and a much loved mother and grandmother.
She was predeceased by her brother and his wife, Tom and Harriett Maxwell, and by Eldon’s brother, Don Gunn.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Eldon & Holly, Dan & Laurie, John & Kristen, Tom & Anne, Margaret & Bill Robertson; plus 19 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and other family and friends.
At such a time as this, she would sign her note “Love and Prayers” to all.
Funeral service will be at Trinity St. Stephen United Church in Amherst, Saturday, May 19 at 11 a.m. There will be an opportunity for visitation after the service.
Memorial donations may be made to the Mission and Service Fund or charity of your choice.
Cremation and funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, Amherst, N.S.
