Thomas Errol Laughlin
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Saturday, May 19, 2012, of Thomas Errol Laughlin of Traveller’s Rest, P.E.I., aged 89 years. Veteran of the Second World War.
Errol was born on September 23, 1922, in New Annan to his late parents Edward and Mary (nee MacNeill) Laughlin. Beloved husband of the late Margaret (nee Murphy) Laughlin and loving father of Diane (Kevin) Griffin of Stratford, Sharon (Vernon) Harris, Gerald (Kathy) and Joseph (Sheila), all of Summerside, Pauline Laughlin (Lawrence Chaisson) of Nail Pond, Kevin (Jackie Waddell) of Green Bay, David (Jo-Anna Green) of Halifax and Barbara (Kevin) McDonald of Kensington. Survived by his brothers Edward (Agnes) of Brantford, ON., Urban (Mary) and Allison, all of Sherbrooke, and his sisters Clair Matthews of Summerside, Teresa Johnson of Warwick, Rhode Island, and Anita (George) O’Connor of Toronto, ON. Also lovingly remembered by his special friend Rosemary Prishel of Buffalo, N.Y., 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Errol was predeceased by his daughter Mary Elizabeth in infancy, his sister Helen Mahood and brothers-in-law Harold Matthews, Roland O’Connor and John Johnson.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside, until Thursday, May 24, then to St. Paul’s Church, Summerside, for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Visiting hours on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Memorial donations in Errol’s memory to the Island Nature Trust or the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
Members of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #5, Summerside, will hold a service of remembrance on Wednesday evening at 6:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
