It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Michael ‘Mick’ MacInnis in Edmonton, Alta., on Tuesday, May 15, 2012.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late John Joseph and Mima (Ferguson) MacInnis.
Mick was a member of local 146 Boiler Makers Union and travelled extensively over the past 36 years with his trade.
Mick was a kind and gentle soul who was loved by all who knew him. He especially enjoyed his time here in Cape Breton with his best friend and companion, Jackie. Mick was also a very talented artist and as a pastime he enjoyed writing poetry, sketching and painting.
He is survived by his longtime partner, Jackie; her daughter, Trixie; her children, who affectionately called him “Poppy Mick,” Mia, Dillon and Chandler; brothers, Donnie, Angus, Earl; sister, Joanne (Ed) Provoe; sisters-in-law, Regie (Allan) Jones, Leslie (Blair) MacDonald, Glenda, Dolena (David) Hart, Elaine (Allan) MacDonald, Cheryl, Kay (Herb) King; brothers-in-law, Billy, Stevie and John T; numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers-in-law, Gordie and Kenny, father-in-law, Fabian (Florence) Boutilier.
In honouring Mick’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A memorial service, celebrating his life, will be held in Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay, at 2 p.m., today (Friday, May 25). The Rev. Leo Boone will be officiating. Interment will be in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, at a later date.
