Hazel Constance Gallon (nee Stacey)

November 28, 1931- May 29, 2012
Peacefully, at the Ottawa Civic Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. “Connie,” the great matriarch of our bountiful family: daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, her legacy, humanity and memory, secure for many succeeding generations.
Daughter of Leslie John Stacey, a decorated WWI veteran, and Hazel Pentland, of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island; sister of Donald, Charles and Shirley (deceased), and beloved Dorothy; survived by: her husband of 57 years, Harry Alfred (Al) Gallon; daughters Cathy, Pamela (Ralph Roloff) and Nancy (Tom Conners); son Harry Chris (Nathalie Haddad); predeceased by daughter Sandra Constance; “Grammy” to David, Elias, Aviva, Joel and Jordan; Eric, Sonya and Anita; Ryan, Dylan and Nathalie; Nicholas and Quinton; “Great-Grammy” to Carmen, Jacob, Yoni and Jack.
Connie grew up in Charlottetown and moved with her family to Fredericton, New Brunswick in 1950, where she met Al, who was attending the University of New Brunswick. They married in 1954 and have lived in Northern Ontario, Arnprior, ON, Truro, NS, Quebec City, Nepean, ON and Albany, New York. Connie and Al resided in Braeside, ON, since 1985, and lived together at Quail Creek Retirement Centre in Renfrew, ON the past two years.
She was funny, intuitive, artistic, unwaveringly brave, the world’s greatest optimist, and above all, comforting, to everyone who was blessed to have met her. She lives on, in body and spirit, through her loving family.
Many thanks to the nurses at the Ottawa Civic Hospital for their kindness and compassion; a very special thank you to the dialysis unit at the Renfrew County Hospital for their many years of dedication, humour and grace in prolonging and enriching our mother’s, our grammy's, life with us. And Dad, Granddad, our great patriarch, thank you from the entire family for your tireless, selfless dedication in ensuring that Mom’s many medical needs were met over the years.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Renfrew Victoria Hospital Dialysis Unit or the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
A private funeral service will be held at the Sand Point Public Cemetery and a reception to celebrate Connie's life will be held at the Quail Creek Retirement Centre 450 Albert St., Renfrew, between 2-4 p.m.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of the Anderson Funeral Home, Renfrew, Ontario.
