It is with deep sadness that the family announce the passing of Vivian Lorraine Thomas on Friday, June 1, 2012 at the Palliative Care Unit at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook following a courageous battle with cancer. She was 72 years old. Vivian is predeceased by her parents Gordon and Mary Young and sister Maria. Left with fond memories her husband of 50 years Wesley; son Peter (Heidi) and daughter Karen (Conrad Young); grandchildren: Amanda and Steven Thomas and Mariah Young; step-grandchildren Justin (Gillian) and Kenny (Abbey); step-great-grandchildren Landon, Logan and Benjamin; siblings Augusta (Eric Baker), Tom (Annie), Ruth (Ron Abbott), Hughie (Carolann) and Raymond (Doris), as well as a large extended family and a wide circle of friends. Cremation has taken place at Humber Valley Crematorium. Visitation will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Monday from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 5 at 10:00 a.m. from The Cathedral of St. John The Evangelist, Main Street with Archbishop Stewart Payne officiating. As expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit, Western Memorial Regional Hospital or to a charity of one’s choice.
