Jeannette Severeyns
Jeannette’s life was her family. All those who knew Jeannette knew her as a kind and sweet person. Jeannette will always be remembered for her fabulous talents of baking, cooking, sewing and crocheting. She mostly catered to her loving family, however, she also worked at The Cove Guest Home, the Castle Court Restaurant in Sydney River and volunteered her services with the ladies auxiliary at Our Lady of Fatima parish, Sydney River.
Jeannette emigrated from the Netherlands to Canada with her husband and oldest daughter to finally settle in Sydney River for 40 years. For the last 11 years, Jeannette’s home was Hammonds Plains.
Jeannette was predeceased by her husband, John Severeyns (1923-1996), her parents, Johannes Egidius Sluijsmans and Maria Catharina Bisscheroux and her brothers, Pierre (Gerda Kleijnen) Sluijsmans and Johannes Sluijsmans.
Jeannette is survived by her brother, Jozef (Carlien) Sluijsmans; children, Riny Saxton, United States, Eddy Severeyns, New Brunswick, Yolanda (David) Nurse, Nova Scotia, Eric (Tena) Severeyns, Nova Scotia, Brent (Deanna) Severeyns, Nova Scotia, Mellissa Severeyns, Nova Scotia; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Forever loved and missed, may our memories of Jeannette live on in our hearts and that she be at peace when she joins her family in heaven.
There will be no visitation for the late Mrs. Severeyns. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Sydney River, on June 9, 2012, at 1 p.m., followed by a reception in the church hall, after which the family and friends will proceed to the cemetery.
