With heavy hearts we the family announce the peaceful passing of Emma MacDonald surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Whitney Pier, she was the daughter of the late Neil and Emma (Gouthro) Thomson.
Emma was always involved in her community, she volunteered with many organizations.
She was on the Board of Trustees for the Louisdale Credit Union and the board of directors for the Strait Richmond Hospital. She was one of the driving forces for starting the Louisdale Fire Department and she was the treasurer for many years. She was a long time leader and believer in the weight watchers movement, during her years in Grand Anse.
Emma enjoyed playing cards, tarabish and 45's and she was an avid fan of the Toronto Blue Jays. She was a member of St. Mary's Parish, Big Pond.
Emma was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by her loving children, Theresa MacDonald, Big Pond, Ann Thomas, Big Pond, Margaret (Lewis) Morrison, North Wallace, Tom (Karen) MacDonald, Windsor, NS; 58 grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Bill; son-in-law, Gerald Thomas; six sisters; and four brothers.
Visitation will be held Tuesday June 12, 2012 at St. Mary's Church, Big Pond, from 11- 2 p.m. Funeral mass to follow at 2 p.m. in St. Mary's Church, Big Pond, with Father Joe Gillis officiating.
Interment will take place in the church cemetery. Reception to follow at the Big Pond Fire Hall.
