Frederick K. Field
Field, Frederick K. – 70, of Truro passed away Friday, June 8, 2012 at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Oscar and Mary (Perrin) Field. Fred spent his early years working in local sawmills and at the Bass River Chair Factory. After taking a barber course, he worked a number of years barbering in Halifax. Along with several friends, he moved to Cranbrook, B.C. to work. From there, he went to Mississauga, Ont. where he worked primarily for the Mississauga School Board. In 1969, he married Cheryl Hiltz, now deceased. After returning to Nova Scotia, Fred worked at Camp Debert until his retirement in 1996. Fred is survived by daughters, Angela Webb (Kevin), Monson, Mass.; Cindy Field, Hope, B.C.; a son, Charles Field (Margaretha), Great Village; grandchildren, Robert Webb; Cody Field; Hendrikus and Oscar van den Hoek Field; sisters, Joan Leslie, Carrs Brook; Judith Kennedy (Tom), Upper Onlsow; a brother, Olsen Field (Linda), Carrs Brook; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother in law, Allen Leslie. A graveside funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday [June 13, 2012] in the Economy Cemetery, Rev. Florence Antle-Brison officiating.
