It is with great sorrow that we announce that Bill Iden peacefully slipped away in St. Mary’s Hospital in the early morning of June 4. He was predeceased by his wife Margot in 2005 and is survived by his son Klaus.
Bill was born in Germany in 1919 and immigrated to Canada early in the 1950s. He worked for many years for CN Telecommunications both in Whitehorse and Dawson Creek before taking an early retirement and moving to the Sunshine Coast. He and his wife loved the Coast with the views of the ocean, eagles and other birds and frequent visits by other wildlife to their property.
Bill will be fondly remembered as a generous man who had a great sense of humour and was a friend to many. He was quite involved with the Sunshine Coast Astronomy Club where he applied his love of photography in a new way.
Many thanks to the wonderful staff at St. Mary’s who were so helpful to him and to his close friend Bill Buitendyk, who was such a support during the last few weeks of his life.
A celebration of life will be held for Bill at a later date here on the Sunshine Coast.
