LEBLANC, Lillian “Maude” – of New Beginnings in Yarmouth, passed away on June 10, 2012, in her 100th year. Born in Summerville, Yarmouth Co., she was the last surviving child of the late Nelson and Lillian Maude (Haskell) Spates. Mother enjoyed many years of buying and selling antiques at her shop on the Grove Road. She worked some years at McKinley’s Book Store, in the gift shop at Yarmouth Regional Hospital, the blood clinic and also delivered Meals on Wheels around town. She is survived by son, Bill (Lorraine), Toronto, Ont.; daughter, Mae Cleveland (the late Gerald), Yarmouth; eight grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and many great great-grandchildren; niece, Maude (Spates) LeBlanc of Arcadia, who was a great friend and help to Mum in her later years. She was predeceased by husband, William “Bill” LeBlanc; brothers, Vernall, Lewis and Rexford; sisters, Bessie and Minnie. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yarmouth. There will be no visitation by family request. Funeral service was held on Wednesday, June 13 at 2 p.m. from Ritchie Memorial Chapel, Rev. A.D. “Bill” Newell officiated. Interment followed in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Maude’s memory may be made to Yarmouth SPCA or to a charity of your choice.
