BAILLOD, Mildred Grace (nee Gordon)
January 9, 1914 – June 7, 2012
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mildred Baillod on June 7, 2012 at the age of 98 years. Mildred was a very special person, the most wonderful mother in the world, kind, compassionate and gentle who gave unconditional love, and always put everyone else first. There are few people on this earth who have the integrity, grace and heart that she had. She was an inspiration to us all. Mildred was born in Browning, SK in 1914. She graduated from Normal School in Regina in 1931-32 and taught school for twenty-nine years in Saskatchewan. Mildred was honored for her contribution to education in the Vanguard Museum dedicated to “Women of Influence”. She met Russ Baillod in Fife Lake, SK in 1938. They married in 1939 and had three children. Following Russ’s death in 1970 and her retirement in 1975, Mildred moved to Medicine Hat and then to Calgary. She loved playing the piano and doing needlepoint, reading mysteries, puzzles, playing Scrabble, her daily walks and exercises. Mildred is survived by two daughters Marlene Imbsen (George) of CA and AK, and Patricia Holenski (Joe) of Vanguard, SK; her son James Baillod (Julia) of Sandpoint, ID; two sisters Frances Dowling (Doc) of Lethbridge, AB and Shirley McWalter of Calgary; four grandchildren, Deborah, Sherry, Laurie and Cindy, and a great granddaughter Alexis. Mildred was predeceased by her husband Russ Baillod, her brother Albert Gordon, and parents James and Catherine Gordon. She will be dearly missed by all, and will live in our hearts forever. It was Mildred’s wish that she be cremated and placed with Russ in the Swift Current Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In loving memory of Mildred Baillod, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
