William Parker "Parkie" Loughead

Loughead, W. Parker “Parkie” – 82, Truro passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 12, 2012 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Robert and Verna (Graham) Loughead. Parkie owned his own Trucking Company, Parker Loughead Transport Ltd. and later Quality Travel. He also drove a bus and loved driving anything with wheels, but only if it was a FORD. He was a member of the UCT and the I.O.O.F. Parkie was a member of St. James Male Choir as well as a member of the Truro Volunteer Fire Brigade. Parkie and Helen had many years of fun and laughter together always enjoying each other’s company. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Helen (MacLeod); brothers, Graham (Pat), Reggie (Gerry), Wayne (Vicki), all of Lower Truro; sisters-in-law, Christine Morrow, Kay Geddes, both of Truro; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Joy Heather; brother, Donnie. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 15 from 7-9 pm; memorial service on Saturday, June 16 at 11:00 am beginning with a Firefighters Tribute Service, all in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. Clair MacLeod officiating. Interment in Old Barns Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or a charity of choice.
