We are saddened to announce the death of Edna Best, age 96, of Sackville, NB. Edna passed away peacefully at the Drew Nursing Home on Monday, June 4, 2012.
Born in Mount View, she was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Ayer) Cook.
Edna was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was employed for 20 years with the Sackville Tribune Press. Always an athlete she loved participating in bowling and is in the Sackville Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the Provincial Softball Champion Team of 1934.
Edna will be sadly missed by her son Percy (Donna) of Sackville and her daughter Marilyn Smith (James) of Milton, ON. Grandchildren Alana Best-Welsh (Brett), Kimberly Amodeo (Frank) and Todd Smith (Paige) as well as Great-grandchildren Vanessa, Amy and Deanna Amodeo and Raquel, Kailyn and Brady Smith.
She was predeceased by her husband Thomas "Tom" Best.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St, Sackville, N.B., (506-364-1300) where a service of celebration took place on Saturday, June 30, at 2 p.m., Pastor Vernon Vickruck officiating, with internment in the Four Corners Cemetery.
