John ‘Jack’ Alphonse Kenny, 87, Halifax passed away peacefully in Halifax on June 12, 2012, surrounded by family at the Northwood Care facility.
Born in Sydney, Jack was the son of John Sylvester Kenney and Catherine Vassallo.
He attended Saint Francis Xavier University, the University of Portland and received his teacher’s diploma from University of Ottawa. He taught for the Montreal Catholic School Commission for over 20 years.
He is survived by his children, Sylvia (Kenney) Tam of Halifax; John Kenney, Montreal; Andrea Kenney, Mississauga; Kathryn Kenney, Burlington; his former wife, Celine (MacLellan) Kenney, Halifax; grandchildren, Aidan, Madeleine, Bryant and Emily; sons-in-law, Ying Tam, Halifax; Brian Allen, Mississauga; daughter-in-law, Anita Conidaris, Montreal; sisters Jean (Kenney) Bernier and Chris (Kenney) Crouse.
Predeceased by Edward ‘Ted’ Kenney, Eileen (Kenney) Henderson, Katherine (Kitty Kenney) O’Shaughnessy, Walter (Wally) Kenney and James (Jim) Kenney.
Jack will be lovingly remembered by his family and extended family at Northwood.
Celebration mass of Jack’s life will be held at Northwood Care on Northwood Terrace, Halifax, on Thursday June 14, 2012 at 3:30 p.m. Reception to follow at same locations.
