Blaine Maurice Phillips, age 64, of Gypsum Mines, Hants County, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 31, 2012, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, surrounded by his loving family. Blaine was the son of the late Herman and Helen (Harvey) Boyd, and Herb and the late Vera (Harvey) Phillips. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Guild); daughter, Tammy, Gypsum Mines; sons, Mark (Shelly), Kentville and Robert (Amber), Brooklyn; 5 wonderful grandchildren, Logan, Luke, Grace, Sierra and Colton; brothers, Graham (Shirley), Brooklyn; Richard, Windsor; step brothers and step sisters, Barb, Paulette, Shelley, Frank and David; several nieces and nephews. Blaine worked all of his life in the construction business. He and the late Fred Fox, Windsor, his longtime friend and partner, owned and operated Fox & Phillips Construction Ltd. in Windsor for many years. After his grandchildren his next passion was the outdoors where he could be found on his Honda Goldwing Motorcycle, John Deere Tractors or his 4 Wheeler. Blaine, along with his wife, Phyllis were members of the Maritime Motorcycle Touring Association, which brought great friendships and many memorable riding experiences. Special thanks to the many friends and family who visited and supported us during this time. Also to the Palliative Care Unit and staff of the Hants Community Hospital – your kindness and compassion will always be remembered. Visitation was 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, June 3, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. A Celebration of Blaine’s life was held at a gathering in the Sweets Corner Community Hall, Highway 14, Sweets Corner, from 2 - 4 pm. Monday, June 4th, 2012. Interment will be held at a later date. Family flowers only, donations in memory of Blaine were requested to be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Hants Community Hospital or the Canadian Cancer Society.
