DAY, RAYMOND E. - On Wednesday, June 20, 2012, Raymond Day of St. Stephen, N.B. at Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B. with his daughter by his side. Born April 11, 1922. Son of Guy R. and Elsie (Sullivan) Day. Predeceased by his wife Elsie (Gibson) in 2008. Survived by his daughter, Lorraine; son-in-law, Ron Richard (who he always said was more of a son then a son-in-law); granddaughter, Tara London (John Giannakos); sister, Elizabeth Juneau; sister-in-law, Ellen Taylor; nieces and nephews, Annabelle Juneau, Mary Lou (Blaine) DeLong, Evan (Lynne) Moffitt, Ralph (Eva) Moffitt, Brenda (Richard) Toth, Shawn (Mary Lynn) Cunningham, Stephen (Elaine) Taylor, Susan Taylor and David (Joan) Taylor). In 1941 he joined his father, Guy R. Day in the general insurance, real estate and travel agency. It was around this time he met the love of his life, Elsie Gibson whom he married in 1944. They enjoyed 64 years of marriage. Raymond especially enjoyed spending time at his cottage at Champlain where he and his wife did much of their entertaining. In the last few years, he's been meeting friends at Tim Hortons six mornings a week, where he will be greatly missed.
The funeral service will be held at Christ Anglican Church, Prince William Street, St. Stephen, N.B. on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home, 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B. on Friday, June 22, 2012 from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM. Interment will be held at St. Stephen Rural Cemetery.
