Rand Smith
SMITH, RAND CAMPBELL - Rand Campbell Smith, 72. It is with sad hearts the family of Rand Smith announce his passing at the Moncton Hospital on June 21, 2012, following a brief illness. Born in Salisbury, September 5, 1939, he was the son of the late Earle and Evelyn (Campbell) Smith. Rand was a retired Air Traffic Controller having worked in Gander, Halifax and the Moncton area control centre over his 28 year career. He then did retraining for two years and was reassigned to the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and then enjoyed an active retirement at his camp in the woods of Albert Co. and his summer spot on Grand Lake with his family and friends. He was a former member and President of the Salisbury Lions Club and served on Salisbury Village Council for nine years. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 53 years, Carolyn (Crossman); two daughters Shelley Jones (Edward) and Christine Smith, of Salisbury and one son Scott (Kelly) of Lower Coverdale. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; Keaton, Ryan and Chelsea Jones; Brody Smith; Nicholas, Taylor and Jared Smith and by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will be receiving friends and relatives at the Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) with visiting Saturday 6 to 9 p.m. and from where the funeral will be held in the chapel, Sunday, June 24 at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Dan Compton officiating. Interment at Pine Hill Cemetery, Salisbury. As expressions of sympathy memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society or Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family. www.keirsteads.ca
