It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Susan Mary (Reid) Porter, age 54 of Amherst. Surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, June 21, 2012, at Moncton City Hospital, Susie's heart of gold stopped beating.
Born in Joggins, she was the daughter of Audrey (Tattrie) Reid and the late, John "Wally" Reid.
While Susie may never have been blessed with children of her own, many others experienced her loving nature, laughter and wit. She will be sadly missed by her partner of 25 years, Keith Grad and their children Ken (Jonna), Edmonton AB, Valerie (Frank) Sears (Midget, NB), Rose (Dale) Lapawchuk, Boyle AB and Melanie Grad (Andre Thibeault), Hamilton, ON and 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Susie's passing also leaves a huge hole in the lives of her mother, two brothers; John Reid (Anne) Joggins, Arthur Reid (Jean) Amherst; four sisters, Bernice (Bernie) Vance, Joggins, Darlene (John) Williamson, Saint John NB, Judy (Steven) Kaye, Calgary, Faith Reid, Amherst NS and twenty nieces and nephews plus several great nieces and nephews.
Besides her father, Susie was predeceased by her sister Carrie Anne Reid, Calgary Alberta in 2009.
Visitation was held on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Campbell's Funeral Home, Amherst, NS.
Funeral service was held on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at 1 p.m. in Campbell's Chapel with Rev. Pam Bowman officiating.
A private interment will take place at a later date.
