COWIE, Douglas Graham - 74, of Brooklyn, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool on Friday, June 22nd, 2012 with his family by his side. Born in Liverpool, he was the son of the late Charles and Mona (Foley) Cowie. A highly skilled and gifted tradesman, Graham was a long time employee with Bowater Mersey Paper Company for thirty eight years working as a pipe and steam fitter. Surviving are his wife Helen (Zwicker); his sons Hal (Krista) of Fort St. John, BC and Graham (Karen) of Brooklyn; Grandchildren Morgan of Brooklyn, Reese and Jamie of Fort St. John, BC; Sisters Bea (Robert) Hunt of Liverpool, Dorothy Marshall of Bridgewater and Una Marie Rodger of Cole Harbour; Nieces Katherine MacKenzie of Porter’s Lake, NS, Heather (Terry) Scotland of East Preston, Lorraine (Christopher) Ryan of Perth, ON,; Nephews Graham Rodger(Barbara MacDonald) of Edmonton, David Nickerson of Liverpool, Jon Nickerson of Greenfield, Charles Hunt ( Peggy Zwicker) of Greenfield, Rob Rodger of Cole Harbour. He was predeceased his niece Cheryl. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A private graveside memorial service will beheld at a later date.
