It is with deep regret that we the family announce the peaceful passing of Helen Doue at the Cove Guest Home on Monday, June 25, 2012, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Campbellton, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Sarah (Simmons) Kaiser.
Helen was a wonderful woman who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She had a smile for everyone and enjoyed baking, making candies, knitting, singing and spending time with her family and friends. She volunteered with the Salvation Army, the Loaves and Fishes, and was a founding member of the Cape Breton Christian Fellowship Church.
Helen is survived by her loving children, Beverly (Owen) Heisler, Edmonton, Alta., Brian (Lea) Doue, Sydney, Joel (Lana) Doue, Bedford, John Doue, Sydney, Diane (Bryan) MacDonald, Sydney, Walter (Jean) Doue, Texas, David Doue, Northwest Territories; Sandra (Trevor) Williams, Uxbridge, Ont.; 12 wonderful grandchildren, Sandra, Christopher, Caleb, Seth, Spencer, Samuel, Sarah, Amanda, Daniel, Rachael, Hannah and Ella; cousin, Brenda Oakley; brother, Sonny (Marilyn) Pryde, Digby; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, son, Barry Roger, and grandson, Cole Williams.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 28 from 7-9 p.m. and Friday, June 29 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2012, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Bruce DeYoung officiating. Interment to follow in the Alfred E. Smith Cemetery.
