It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Frank passed away at the Glace Bay Hospital on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Reserve Mines, he was the son of the late John and Ann (MacIntyre) MacDougall, and was a member of St. Gregory’s Church, Donkin.
He was employed with the maintenance department of our local hospitals for more than 36 years, working at St. Joseph’s, later the Glace Bay Community, Glace Bay Healthcare, South Street and Taigh Na Mara.
Frank was a kind-hearted gentleman who had a smile for everyone. He would always do odd jobs for anyone needing home maintenance or repairs; he enjoyed listening to country music especially Johnny Cash.
Frank was a true family man, enjoying time spent with his wife, children and grandchildren. He also had a passion for golf and was a member at the Passchendale Golf Course, Glace Bay, and was also a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 5, Donkin.
Frank will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 44 years, Mary (Baxter); son, Shane (Tammy), Donkin; daughter, Trina (Kevin Clements), Vancouver; his two “bestest buddies” grandsons, Logan and Cole; his darling granddaughter, Kailey; brothers, Blair (Diane), Bruce (Debbie), both of Glace Bay; sisters, Lynn (Herb) Underhill, N.B., Sharon (Addie) Currie, Glace Bay; many nieces, nephews and friends. A special mention is extended to Frank’s best friend, Roy ‘Cowboy’ (Kay) MacNeil, Port Morien.
Besides his parents, Frank was predeceased by brothers, John ‘Deacon,’ Ricky, Jimmy and special aunt, Lena MacDougall.
Visitation will be held Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m., Monday, July 2 at St. Gregory’s Church, Donkin, with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating.
