Sam Howie

HOWIE, SAM - 1924-2012 - Born in Port Glasgow, Scotland. Sam lived in Windsor, ON, Moncton, NB and Langley, BC. He was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Ewing) Howie and brother to the late Susan Reid, and Margaret Scratch. He was married to Mary (Balint) (May 12, 1930 to December 21, 2011) for 61 years. He was dearly loved by his four children, Linda, Scott (Debbie Grass), Alan (Rose Arsenault) and Rich (Jennifer Boyd). His six grandchildren Jeffrey, Michael, Joshua, Alex, Rebecca and Clare will miss him greatly. He was also loved by his three great-grandchildren, Carine, Elise and Brooke. Sam was a proud R.C.A.F. veteran of WWII, serving from 1942-1945. He graduated from Walkerville High School in Windsor, ON. Sam worked for Hiram Walker for 10 years and then spent 31 years with Procter and Gamble, becoming District Sales Manager of the Atlantic Provinces. He was a member of the Moncton Golf Club and the United Commercial Travellers. Sam loved to garden, watch hockey and was an avid baseball fan. He was devoted to his family, a responsible, caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Sam had a wonderful sense of humour. He was deeply loved.
