NEW GLASGOW – It is with heavy hearts the family of the late Ernest Keith Bowman announce his passing at the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at the age of 76.
Born in New Glasgow, he was the son of Theodore Archibald and Lillian Mable (Richardson) Bowman. Keith was employed for nine years with an American telephone company and for 28 years with Maritime Tel and Tel. He was a quiet person who possessed a great sense of humor and the ability to make people laugh. Keith’s most treasured memories were of summers at the cottage with his family, spending endless hours playing with his grandchildren. Keith and his wife, Kay, enjoyed spending countless hours each Christmas season creating the “Christmas House” for many, near and far, to enjoy. It gave him great pleasure to see the awe and wonder on the children’s (and the adult’s) faces.
Surviving are his loving wife, Katherine “Kay” (Muirhead); sons, Brian (Donna) Bowman, Barry Bowman and Kevin Bowman; step-sons, Alan (Elizabeth) MacIntosh, Kevin (Mary) MacIntosh and Steven (Susan) MacIntosh; 13 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; sister, Barbara MacPherson; brothers-in-law, Don MacLean and Fred (Lorna) Muirhead; several nieces and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Kaylene MacLean; brother-in-law, Al MacPherson.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel with Rev. Dr. J. Kenneth MacLeod presiding.
