Clarence Albert Cavanagh - 91, of Wolfville, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Halifax he was a son of the late Harry and Martha (Brown) Cavanagh. He retired from his family plumbing business, H. A. Cavanagh and Sons Ltd. He was a veteran firefighter and honourary member of the Wolfville Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Wolfville Lions Club for 41 years. Clarence had been active in sports, especially curling and hockey and in his younger years played on the Cavanagh family hockey team. He was an avid stamp and bottle collector and loved the outdoors. He is survived by his wife, the former Dorothy MacMullen; one son, Cyril, Edmonton, Alberta; one daughter, Deborah “Debbie” (Harold) Amberman, New Minas; three step daughters, Ann (Bill) Witcomb, Wolfville; Shealagh (Paul) McGrath, Halifax; Charlene (Jerry) Lewis, Albuquerque, New Mexico; two brothers, Lorne “Dutch”, Black River; Kenneth (Muriel), Sheffield Mills; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Hilda; brothers, Cyril, Edward and Victor. Cremation has taken place and there was no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Doctor Barry Morrison officiating. Burial took place in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton. Donations in memory may be made to The Lung Association.
