Edward James Martin passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on June 27, 2012, at the age of 82.
He was born in Sydney and was the son of Herbert and Dorothy (Hillman) Martin.
He leaves to mourn his wife Marquita (Sherrard) Martin; his son Timothy, Moncton; one sister Shirley MacDougall (James) of Kitchener, Ont.; two brothers Herbert (Pearl) of Halifax and Arnold (Jean) of Sydney.
Ed worked for CN for 38 years. He was an avid sportsman, competing in baseball, softball, curling, bowling and golfing. He attended 56 of the last 57 CNR annual bowling tournaments, and was the only curler locally still using the corn broom for all his curling games. He belonged to the 400 Club in bowling, the Eight-Ender Club of Curling and had a Hole-in-One in Golf. He was a long time member of Knox Presbyterian Church where he had served as an elder, member of the Board of Managers, and member of the Camp Churchill committee. Ed will be missed by the many organizations in which he was a willing volunteer.
A funeral service was held at the Knox Presbyterian Church Campbellton on Saturday, June 30, 2012.
Donations to the Knox Presbyterian Church or the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Maher’s Funeral Home, Campbellton.
