GOSS, JOHN BARRET - The family of the late John B. Goss are sad to announce his sudden and unexpected passing at his home in Bonny River. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lois (Lee) Goss, daughters, Patricia (Wayne) Negus of Bonny River, Jane (Brian) Hatt of St. George, Debra (Fouad) Elerksoussy of Magog PQ, and son John Goss of Bonny River. Also survived by eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, one brother, Donald (Sheila) Goss of Scoudouc and sister-in-law Betty Goss of Newport, VT, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Hollis A. and Sarah A. (Maxwell) Goss, brother Burton, sister Laura, grandson John Goss Jr., and son-in-law William Hall. He was born November 19, 1922, in Bonny River, where he lived for most of his life. He began working for Canadian Pacific at the Station in Bonny River and worked there until July, 1944, when he enlisted in the R.C.A. to fight in World War II. He was discharged from the Army, December 12, 1945. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star of France and Germany Star and the Canadian Volunteer Services Medal and Clasp. In later years, he also received the Medal for the Liberation of Holland. He and Lois Lee were married August 5, 1946 at the Second Falls United Baptist Church. After he returned from the war, he went back to the C.P.R. to work and was there until he retired. He was a very active person, gardening and always working outside until the last two years. He lived a long and fulfilled life and we will miss him.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB from where the service will be held from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Thursday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Darren Millett officiating followed by the interment at the Second Falls Baptist Cemetery. Visiting at the funeral home will take place on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
