Heather Dawn Toombs
After a lengthy stay at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and with family by her side, Heather Dawn Toombs (nee Mills), of North Rustico, at age 64, joined her Lord and Saviour on July 3, 2012.
Heather was the beloved wife of Ronald Toombs for 43 years; the loving mother of Darren (Kimberly), Kimberley Gilroy (Rev. Brian), Kendall (Carrie) and Natalie; and the proud Nana of Rebecca, Jordan, Matthew and James Toombs; Jeshuah and Judeah Gilroy; and Galen and Linden Toombs. She is also survived by her brother, Gordon Mills (Maureen); sister, Patsy Mills; aunts, Esther White (Lloyd) and Mary Scales (the late Mac); brother-in-law, Gordon Toombs (Wilna); and sister-in-law, Dianne Redmond (Elmer). She was predeceased by her parents, A. Roy and Ethel M. (Hill) Mills; and her brother, Barry.
Heather worked hard by helping to run the family farm and cottages, and by volunteering for over 40 years in numerous church and community organizations. Heather will also be remembered for her solid Christian faith, hospitality, and caring for others and putting them first.
Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Road, New Glasgow, for visitation on Monday, July 9, 2012, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be held at the Cavendish United Church on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at 2 p.m. Interment in Cavendish Community Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Cavendish Breadalbane Pastoral Charge or the Provincial Acute Stroke Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital would be appreciated.
