With deepest sorrow and heavy hearts we the family regretfully announce the passing of Diane MacMillan on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay on June 22, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Mary (Parsons) Martin.
Over the years Diane was employed with Phalen’s Bakery, General Hospital, and Caledonia Club.
Diane is survived by her love of her life and best friend, Godfrey Mauger; children, Debra (Mike) Gormley, Roy (Tanya) MacMillan and Tammy Mauger. Loving grandchildren, Ryan, Brandon, Taylor, Nathan Frankie. Devoted sisters Betty Budden, Verna Durant, Karen, Nichol and brother, David (Barbara) Martin; nieces and nephews, close friends Linda and Donna, also extended family.
Predeceased by special brother-in-law, George Budden.
As with all the challenges Diane faced in her too-short life, she faced her ongoing illness with dignity, grace and beauty. She will forever be remembered as a loving and giving friend to all who knew her.
Family would like to say a special thank you to Diane’s home care workers for all their love.
Visitation for Diane will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, from 7-9 p.m. at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Funeral service will be held Thursday, July 12, 2 p.m. at the Salvation Army, Union Street, Glace Bay.
