John Douglas (Doug) Martin

Peacefully at Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe, Ontario, on July 7, 2012, in his 79th year after a courageous struggle with Vascular Dementia and Heart Disease.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years, Ann. Dear father of Deborah, William, Troy and his wife Susie. Proud grandfather of Michael and Amanda, Jesse and Molly Hunter and Kendra. Also survived by sisters Joyce (late Perley), Mildred (Ron), Molly (Don) of Prince Edward Island, and his brother Bob (Joan) of Bolton. Brother-in-law of Maud (Bill) of Burlington and George (late Terry) of Elliot Lake. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, cousins and good friends in Prince Edward Island, Ontario and the U.S.A. Predeceased by parents Hugh and Bessie.
Doug was a retired employee of Canada Post with over 35 years service.
A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at NGH for their compassion and care and also to Carla Sywak and staff at Thompson Waters Funeral Home for their kindness and direction.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, Prince Edward Island, date to follow.
For those wishing, donations to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Norfolk General Hospital, or charity of choice would be greatly appreciated.
