It is with sad hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Melvin Lawrence Hardy, 79, on Monday, July 9, 2012, at his home in Ingonish.
Born in Neil’s Harbour on Nov. 14, 1932, he was the son of the late Thomas N. (Paddy) and Dorcas J. (MacDonald) Hardy.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Lois; son, Roger; daughter-in-law, Lorraine and grandchildren, Mandy (Keith), Matthew and Graham (Marsha); several nieces and nephews.
Melvin was predeceased by his parents, two children in infancy; grandson, Jamie; brothers, Levi, Herman and Jack and sisters, Julia, Emma and Muriel.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines.
Visitation for Melvin will take place at his home on Friday, July 13, 2012, from 7-9 p.m. A service celebrating Melvin’s life will take place in St. John’s Anglican Church on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Warren Huestis officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery, following the service.
No flowers please. In lieu, donations in Melvin’s memory may be made to St. John’s Anglican Church, Ingonish, or a charity of one’s choice.
