Passed peacefully away on Monday, July 9, 2012, Bernice Agatha Short (nee Lahey), aged 86 years. Predeceased by husband Ed, son Wayne, sister Dorothy Wetherbee, and parents Peter Lahey of Cape Broyle and Anastasia (O’Leary) Lahey of Brigus South. Left to cherish many wonderful memories are children Kevin (Mary Elizabeth), Peter (Elaine), Carol (Joe Wadden), Bernadette (Randy Rowe), daughter-in-law Timmie Short and brother-in-law Malcolm Wetherbee. Blessed with an abundance of Nanny Short’s love and gentleness are grandchildren: Connor, Jared, and Alana Short; Jeffrey (Andrea) and Kathy (Davis) Short; Michael, Laura, Blair, Margaret, and Bridget Short; Nadine (Chad), Joey and Anna Wadden; Stefan (Kim), Lyndsey (Michael), and Joshua (Katie) Rowe; and two precious great-grandchildren: Liam Wayne Short and Charlie Noelle Costello. Remembering her with great love are nieces and nephews: Donna and Danny Short; Marie, Michael, Patrick, and Pamela Wetherbee. The Staff and Residents of Ruby Manor and Agnes Pratt Nursing Home also grieve her passing, as well as many friends in the Catholic Women’s League. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home LeMarchant Road on Wednesday and Thursday from 2:00-4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial on Friday July 13 at St. Patrick’s Church, Patrick Street at 9:30 am. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to St. Patrick’s Parish Building Fund.
