It is with deep sadness the family of Michael Aaron McCartney announce his passing at R.I.H. on July 8th, 2012 from complications of P.S.P.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Janice; children Sean (Heidi) McCartney, Colleen (Brent) Gropp, Kelly (Rob) Charron; grandchildren Dillon, Tristen, Ryan, Matthew, Rachel and Claire; sister Sharon (Richard) Antoniak and brother Patrick (Bridget) McCartney.

He was predeceased by his father Eric McCartney, his mother Nina McCartney and his sister Arlene Lavigne.

Michael was born in Pender Harbour, B.C. on August 20th, 1944. He grew up in Gibsons Landing, B.C. and spent most of his adult life in the Pritchard area.

Michael was a welder by trade, loved the outdoors, fishing, camping and hunting. He was proud of his children and grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff at Ridgeview Lodge for their kindness to Mike over the past months as he struggled with his illness.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 16th, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pritchard Hall.
