It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving aunt, Catherine ‘Kay’ Mary MacDonald, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on July 12, 2012.
Born in Sydney, she was a daughter of the late Michael R. and Catherine A. (MacNeil) MacDonald.
Catherine worked for over 36 years as a seamstress for Wrights Ltd. She was a member of Holy Redeemer CWL as well as a previous member of St. Theresa’s CWL.
She is survived by nephews, Michael (Robin) Sheppard, Scarbourgh, Ont., Vincent (Chris) Sheppard, Dartmouth, David (Julie) Sheppard, Sydney; niece, Kay (Gard) Young, Betty Brookman and Jane Sheppard, all of Sydney; as well as several grand, great-grand and great-great grandnieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brother, Dan H. MacDonald; sisters, Elizabeth L. Sheppard, Mary B. MacDonald, Margaret MacDonald and Rita Olga MacDonald-Lang; niece, Margaret Rose Sheppard.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, July 15 at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. A funeral mass Will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, July 16 in Holy Redeemer Church, Rev. Paul Murphy will officiate. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
