Paul Dexter Ritcey - 84, of Woodville, Kings County, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kentville, he was a son of the late Percy and Greta (Withrow) Ritcey. He had been employed in sales with Purina Flour, The Bay and Irving Oil Limited. He then worked for a number of years as a real estate agent, retiring in 1991. He had been an adherent of the Woodville Baptist Church, where he served on a number of committees. He was also a longtime member of the Kentville Lions Club, having received recognition for his community contributions, including a special award presented to him in 2008 by former Premier John Hamm. Paul will be remembered for his dry sense of humour and cooking sausages at the Lion’s pancake breakfasts. He also enjoyed animals and loved his cat, Dandy. Paul was an avid baseball fan, the Toronto Blue Jay’s being his favourite team. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Patricia “Pat” (Webster) Ritcey; a son, David (Judy Dunbar), Miami South, Florida; a step-son, Michael “Mike” (Eva) Zintel, Seattle, Washington; a brother, Ralph (Clara), Kamloops, British Columbia; sisters, Elaine, Edmonton, Alberta; Emilie (Donald) Grant, Ottawa, Ontario; a granddaughter, Jennifer Zintel, Seattle, Washington; a niece, Mary Young, as well as other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Mildred; a brother, Frank. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by request. A Lions tribute service followed by a funeral service and reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Pastor Tim Bigelow and Reverend Murray Shaw officiating. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Woodville Baptist Church or the Kentville Lions Club.
