PHYLLIS MORRISON
Died peacefully in West Vancouver on July 4, 2012 after a long illness. Tall, strong, athletic, intelligent, independent and gracious, Phyl will be missed by her loving family and the many friends who gravitated to her warm hospitality and lively conversation.
Phyl was born in 1928 to Harry and Marion Wilks, and grew up in Creston, BC. She received her physiotherapy degree from U of T, and moved to Vancouver where she worked tirelessly with polio patients, many of whom became life-long friends.
After turning down several marriage proposals, Phyl met and married the love of her life, Jock Morrison, enjoying 40 wonderful years with him until his death in 1995. In the mid ‘60s Phyl and Jock built a sweet seaside cottage just up from the Wakefield Inn. Phyl loved Sechelt and spent every summer here, entertaining friends, hosting and feeding hordes of kids and enjoying the beauty and nature of her second home.
Phyllis is survived by her three children, Jill Fleming (Thom), Maggie Morrison (Tom Duguid) and John Morrison (Daniela), six grandchildren, brother-in-law and three nephews.
We would like to thank everyone who helped make Mom’s life better, with special thanks to Sally Benner, Cathy Gordon, Budd Fearnley, Cathy Wadden and Diana Heissler.
A celebration of her life is planned for fall in Vancouver.
