It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David E. Leon, age 68, of St. Mary’s First Nation on July 16, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.
Born in Westmount, Cape Breton on June 20, 1944 to the late Charles and Doris (Logan) Leon. David was a retired commissionaire and had served in the Canadian Military for 26 years, as well as being an avid golf and baseball fan and player.
Survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Betty Jean (Gabriel) Leon; a daughter, Lorie Leon; three grandchildren, Brett Leon, Ryan and Skylar Lafreniere; brothers, Charles Leon (Barbara), Ralph Leon (Bonnie); sisters, Theresa Gracie (Earl), Shirley Anne MacIntosh; numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by a son, David.
In honouring David’s wishes there will be no visitation or service. Following cremation, a private graveside committal and prayers will be held at a later date. Interment will be in the St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the Canadian Cancer Society N.B. Division.
