We, the family, regret to announce the passing of Margaret Theresa MacDonald, 78, a three-year resident of Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney, on Saturday, July 14, 2012.
Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late James and Jessie (Beaton) MacDonald.
Margie was a gentle and quiet soul who resided under assisted living within various facilities for most of her adult life. To those who provided care for Margie through the years, the family are deeply appreciative of your kindness; you were all considered family to her.
Surviving are brothers, Allan, Barrie, Ont., Ronald (Evelyn), Okanagan Valley, B.C.; sister, Mary Clements, California; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Florence MacDonald, Jeanette MacDonald; brother-in-law, Marshall Desveaux, all of New Waterford.
Margie was predeceased by sisters, Catherine ‘Kay’ Desveaux, Margaret, age nine years, and Mary Margaret in infancy, brothers, Danny, Alex ‘Mabou’ and Phonse.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A private funeral service will be held Saturday, July 21 at 11 a.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith St., New Waterford, with Deacon Leo Penny officiating. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, New Waterford. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
