It is with deep sadness that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of Frank MacKenzie, 75, of Sydney Forks on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Leitches Creek, Frank was the son of the late William and Hannah (MacLeod) MacKenzie.
Frank was employed for 31 years as a police officer with the City of Sydney police force, retiring in 1995.
Frank is survived by his wife of 40 years, Catherine (Morrison); his daughter, Wendy MacKenzie (Dereck Planetta), Coxheath and the light of his life, his precious granddaughter, Miranda Planetta. He is also survived by sisters, Evelyn MacAdam, Sydney and Allie (Amos) Perry, Burlington, Ont. He will also be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours.
Besides his parents, Frank was predeceased by his sister, Catherine ‘Kaye’ MacKenzie and two brothers, Lloyd and Sam.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, July 20 at S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
