Otto and Mildred Haenlein regret to inform the Northside community of the sudden passing of their son, Mark Bradford Otto Haenlein, due to an accident on June 21, 2012, in Chicago.
Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Vanda, Chicago; his parents, Fort Myers, Fla.; his grandparents, Otto and Inge Haenlein, Ottawa, uncle, Mel (Arlene) Burton, Burlington, aunt, Sigrid (Len) Emery, Ottawa, and aunt, Cheryl (late Jack Burton), Halifax. Mark was the loving grandson of the late Seward and Susie Burton, May Street, North Sydney. Mark’s surviving cousins are Jason Burton, Halifax, Suzanne Burton-Ugwu, Mississauga, Patricia MacKenzie, Oakville, Lauri Sullivan, Ottawa, and Kristi Bankonin, Calgary. Mark was a beloved son-in-law of Dr. Chanachai (Cindy) Memark, Glen Ellyn, IIlinois and brother-in-law of Dr. Ron (Dr. Janet) Memark, Powder Springs, Ga., and Jay Memark, Chicago. Mark was a beloved uncle to Lillian and Brendan Memark and to Mekayla and Trystan Genovesi.
Mark was a graduate of Saint Mary’s University, B’Comm 2000 and did post-graduate study in computer technology at ITI in Halifax. He was an assistant vice-president at Standard Bank in Wrigleyville, Chicago at the time of his death.
Mark was a valued member of the Audi Car Club, Chicago chapter and was a participant and instructor at driver’s school and safety seminars in the Chicago area.
Mark was highly regarded by fellow workers and friends and was known to have a passion for life and a love of his shelter dog Maestro, cars, technology, music, gourmet cooking, fine wine, travel, the Cubs, the Blackhawks and the many activities he and Vanda shared with friends.
Mark’s funeral service was held in Chicago and was attended by family and friends from Chicago, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Ontario, Alberta, Indiana, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Australia.
Mark’s ready smile and enthusiasm for life will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
