Lieu de décès : St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada
Date de décès : 7 juillet 2012
It is with great sadness we announce the death of Madeline Deyell Hood, our one and only precious daughter whose life ended unexpectedly on Saturday July 7, 2012 in St. Catharines, Ontario at the far too young age of 19.
Maddie was the much beloved daughter of Robert and Colleen Hood and the loving sister of Andrew. Maddieís extended family includes Robís partner, Cathie, and his parents Stu and Lorraine, and siblings, Ken, Laurie, and Carol as well as Colleenís partner Judy and family, and Colleenís mother, Barbara and brothers, Bert and Brian.
Maddie's spirit is formidable and will live on given her kind heart, strong will and beautiful smile. Maddie was a courageous young woman who was destined to make the world a better place. Her desire to contribute to the world was evidenced through her passion for and great pride in her work with the United Way. She was also preparing to begin her post-secondary education and envisioned a life working in a non-profit organization dedicated to issues of social justice. Her desire to make the world a better place was balanced with a deep and enduring love for music, art, animals, and friends and family.
To all who knew her she was unforgettable - bright, charming, and generous of spirit - as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. She was renowned for her wicked sense of humour and infectious laugh.
For those of us who loved her,
our loss is unimaginable!
Maddie's family would ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the newly formed Maddie Trust fund graciously established in honour of Maddie by her friends at the United Way. To donate please go to www.unitedwaysc.ca and include the statement "in memory of Maddie Hood" in the comments field on the online donation page. The family will be forever grateful for creating this legacy for our girl. We also invite Maddieís friends and family to post stories and photos of their lives with her so that these precious memories can live on and bring comfort to her family.
