It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Frances Elizabeth Lohnes on July 19, 2012 at the Celtic Court Nursing Home.
She is survived by her daughters, Lorna (Darryl) Huett and Margaret Lohnes; sons, Carl (Margaret), Harold and stepson, Ken. Grandchildren, Jennifer (Sandy), Darryl (Jennifer), Adam, Carrol Anne (Jason), Kirk (Kaleen), Cynthia and Mary Lynn. “Old Mum” is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, Brandon, Hayley, Nicholas, Brayden, Harrison, Beth, Ella, Abbigayle and Freddie. Julie (Ray) Flynn also held a special place in her heart.
Frances was predeceased by her mother, Marcella MacEachern, who passed away 14 days after she was born, and her loving grandparents who raised her, Harold and Elizabeth Stinton. She was also predeceased by her husband, Carl Lohnes and sister, Helen Yurczyszyn.
Frances was employed at Avis Rent A Car for many years, where she made a lot of great friends and met a lot of people.
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 22, 2012, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Monday July 23, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Louis Ihasz officiating. Burial in Hardwood Hill Cemetery to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Celtic Court or the Patient Care Fund of the Cape Breton Cancer Center.
