MOORE, Ella “Elaine”- It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Ella Elaine Moore of Lockeport, affectionately known as “Grandma Laine”, on July 19th,2012 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Her children were by her side. Born in Barrington on April 1st, 1931, she was the eldest daughter of George and Frances (Smith) Watt. Elaine had a full and active life. She was a member of St. Andrew’s United Church, Lockeport and a provincial life time member of the IODE. Until just a few years ago she was an active member of the Ragged Islands Chapter IODE. She was a member of the Shelburne County Retired Teachers Association and during her teaching career was involved with the local N.S.T.U. She was very community minded and served on several committees often holding executive positions. Children were also the center of Elaine’s life, whether they were family, from the neighbourhood or those she taught during her 33 years as an elementary school teacher. Elaine is survived by her three children, son, Gordon (Susan Lloyd), Hemford; daughters, Cheryll (Wayne) Blinkhorn, Sandy Point; Margery (J.D.) Merlin, Boutilier’s Point; her grandchildren, whom she was so proud, Sarah Nielsen, Emily Moore, Lauren Blinkhorn, Ryan and Katherine Merlin; brother, Lee Watt (Lynne Crowell), Barrington; sisters, Margery Radigan, Virginia Beach, Jean (John) Bell, Pittsgrove; Brenda ( Frank) Hogg, Wilmot; Carol Oxner, Shelburne; Marlene ( Rudy) DeRose; St. Catherine’s; sister in-law, Ruth Watt, Barrington Passage; brother in-law, Rex (Shirley)Moore, Truro, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, Elaine was predeceased by her loving husband, Carman, her brother Bruce Watt, her sister in-law, Margaret Watt and her brother in-law, Donald Oxner. The family received visitors at Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Lockeport, on Monday, July 23 from 2-4 and 7-8:30. Funeral service was held in St. Andrew’s United Church, Lockeport at 2 pm on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 with Rev. Beverly Burlock officiating assisted by Shalome Swinamer. Elaine was laid to rest in the Lockeport Cemetery. Family flowers only please.
