Purdy, Minnie Amelia – 73, of Rockville, Yarmouth Co., passed away July 25, 2012 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born January 18, 1939 in Weymouth North, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Bessie (Gaudet) Burns. She was a devoted member of the Weymouth North Anglican Church. Minnie spent her working years at the Cosmos Imperial Cotton Mill in Yarmouth. She is survived by daughters, Linda Saulnier, Digby Co.; Lisa Crowe, Yarmouth; sons, Mark Purdy, Weymouth North; Dwayne “McGee” (Susan), Hebron; Neil, Arcadia; Andy, Halifax; Brothers, Herbert (Shirley) Burns, Weymouth North; Reginald Burns; sisters, Margaret (Alex) Crowe, Weymouth; Shirley Hubbard, Hebron; Beatrice (Burton) Melanson, Brooklyn; Betty (Dean) McCauley, Weymouth; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Besides her parents Minnie is predeceased by husband, Richard Purdy; brothers, Walter and Edward; sister, Mary Burns. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation took place Friday, July 27 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service was held Saturday, July 28 at 11 a.m in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with Eugene Hulbert officiating. Interment followed in the Weymouth North Anglican Church parish cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in Minnie’s memory may be made to Yarmouth Regional Hospital Dialysis Unit or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
