who lost her battle to cancer but not her will to live on.
MILLER, Margaret Elizabeth “Marg” – 78, Debert, passed away at home on Thursday morning, July 26, 2012, surrounded by her loving family, who worked tirelessly to help maintain the quality of life that she deserved. Born November 7, 1933, in New Annan, East Wentworth, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Mildred (Campbell) Walsh. Marg is survived by her brothers, Murray (Inga) Walsh, Lesley Walsh, Ontario; Vernon (Carol) Walsh, Belmont, and was predeceased by her husband, Marvin; son, Leonard; brothers, Freddie, Arnold, Ronald; sister, Annie. Widowed at a young age, she was and continued to be the Matriarch who supported her family unconditionally. She raised seven children whom she devoted her life to: Wendy Muise (Joe Roode), Sherry (Robert) Reid, Margo Miller (Blaise Smith), John Miller (Wanda Hatt), Ronda Bagnell, Vicky Miller (Aubrey Boylan), James Miller (Dawn LeBlanc), Laura Lee (Michael) Bulmer. Marg had a special place in her heart for all of her grandchildren. She instilled in them many life long lessons, especially the importance of family. Her grandchildren include: Tracey (Brent) Sibley, Jason (Jennifer) Ryan, Chad Ryan (Father, Skip Ryan), Tanya (Andrew) Houlihan, Winnie Lewis (Sharon Smith) (Father, Winfred Lewis), Lorrina Miller, David and Crystal Hatt, Matthew Little (Father, Kevin Little), Jessica Thompson, Brittany and Kyle Miller (Mother, Samantha Gallant). Her great grandchildren include: Jordan and Luke Houlihan, Jessica and Jason Smith, Josie Sibley and Brooklyn Ryan. Marg had a life long love of animals, especially the ones who came to visit her frequently and up to the time of her passing, you would find them lying by her bedside. Her life was filled with music and every song had a story to tell. “Every moment has its music.” Marg was a dedicated member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 106, Debert, where she received her 25-year membership pin as part of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of Friendly Neighbours and in 2003, Marg received a volunteer award in recognition of her community service. She attended Debert Baptist Church prior to becoming ill and throughout her illness she never gave up on her faith as it gave her comfort and strength throughout her courageous battle. Many heartfelt thanks to Dr. Michael Murray for all of his care, VON, Red Cross, Palliative Care nurses and Dr. Courtney Smith. Thank you to Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 106, Debert and a special thank you to her neighbours, Shirley Fraser and Debbie Buchanan for their care and support. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 106, Debert, will conduct a Legion Tribute Service at 5:45 p.m., Sunday, July 29, 2012, followed by visitation from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, in Debert Baptist Church, 1273 Plains Road, Debert, Pastor Bill Martin officiating. Reception will follow. Interment in Middle Road Cemetery. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Marg’s memory to Canadian Red Cross or Palliative Care Unit (Colchester Regional Hospital) are welcomed.
